Connect freddy to OpenAI dots

Updated

On this page

A dot is OpenAI's always-on agent. It lives inside ChatGPT, has its own cloud computer, and can also be reached from Slack and Teams. Dots use the same plugins as ChatGPT, so freddy only needs to be connected once. We tested freddy with a dot and it works.

Before you start

Dots are an OpenAI feature, and availability depends on your OpenAI plan and region. See OpenAI's guide to getting started with your dot for the current details.

You also need a freddy account and at least one connected source. See Choose and connect a data source.

1. Add freddy as a ChatGPT plugin

freddy is an official plugin in ChatGPT. Open the freddy plugin page and connect it. Follow the steps in Connect freddy from ChatGPT if you have not done this before. Sign in with your freddy email code if needed, review any required Terms, Privacy and Consumer Health Data consent, and approve access.

2. Turn freddy on in your dot

On mobile, open your dot's profile, then go to Customize, then Plugins. This screen uses the same settings as ChatGPT. Find freddy and connect it if it is not already connected.

3. Ask about your data

Message your dot: “What data is available in my freddy account?” Then try “How did I sleep last night?” or “Show me my last five runs.” For something regular, ask your dot to check your sleep and training every morning and tell you what it finds.

Manage access

Disconnect freddy under Plugins in ChatGPT or in your dot. You can also revoke OpenAI's OAuth grant in freddy under Connected AI. Revoking it stops access at once, for ChatGPT and for your dot.

If setup does not work

If you do not see Plugins in your dot, check that dots are available for your plan and region. If freddy is missing from the list, open the freddy plugin page from ChatGPT first and connect it there. Do not paste an API key, MCP key or email code into any chat. If the sign-in still fails, contact freddy support with the error text, without sending a code or token.
